ACA General Body Meet Held At New Convention Centre In Tezpur

GUWAHATI: The Special General Body Meeting of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) was held today, August 20 at the newly constructed Convention Centre in Tezpur. The meeting was presided by Romen Dutta, President, Assam Cricket Association. Other major officials included Devajit Saikia, Secretary, Assam Cricket Association; Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS, DC, Sonitpur; Sushanta Biswa Sarma, APS, SP, Sonitpur; Porikshit Dutta, Vice-President, Assam Cricket Association; Kamakhya Saikia, Joint Secretary, Assam Cricket Association;  and other members of the Apex Council of Assam Cricket Association. 

One representative from each of the 42 affiliating units of Assam Cricket Association were also present in the meeting. 

During the meeting, it was decided to constitute an organising committee consisting of Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, for the ensuing T20I match between India and South Africa scheduled to be held in Guwahati on October 2, 2022. 

Several important decisions relating to cricket were also taken including the appointment of coaches and other technical staff of the Assam team for the forthcoming senior and other age-group tournaments of BCCI. 

The meeting mourned the untimely demise of Late Abdul Matin, Former Secretary of Assam Cricket Association, and Late Amitabh Choudhary, Former Joint Secretary of BCCI. It was further decided in the meeting that a family pension amounting to Rs 20,000 would be given to the widow of Late Abdul Matin, who was a noted cricket administrator of Assam. 

Another crucial decision taken during the meeting was regarding certain issues about the Apex Council of Assam Cricket Association and its term. It has been decided that an application would be moved, before either the Supreme Court or the Gauhati High Court with respect to certain constitutional issues. 

It was also decided that a separate legal team would be constituted by Assam Cricket Association for this purpose. 

After the meeting, Deba Kumar Mishra, ACS, DC, Sonitpur, along with the senior officials of Assam Cricket Association, visited a plot of land for inspection at Teleria, Tezpur, wherein, an exclusive cricket complex would be built under the aegis of Assam Cricket Association.
