GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) which is said to be a point of entry for many Assamese Leaders in the world of politics has proposed to impose a six-month cooling period for its members before they can join any political party.
The proposal which was tabled recently in a delegate meeting of AASU is likely to barge the aspirants who are eyeing to make a foray into active politics this election season.
It is to be mentioned that Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbanada Sonowal, who has gone from being hailed as 'Jatiya Nayak' to being called as 'anti-people' for his stand supporting on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was also a former AASU worker.
