GUWAHATI: All Assam Students' Union (AASU) leader Anuwar Khan has been arrested by Sonapur Police in connection with a theft case.
Khan, who served as the advisor to the All Kamrup District Students' Union, is currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing.

The mixer machine used for railway construction was reported stolen from Sorutari in Sonapur. The owner of the equipment promptly lodged a complaint at the Sonapur Police Station.
During the investigation, police traced the stolen machine to a warehouse in Rangia’s Kamalpur locality. It was discovered that the machine had been transported in a vehicle. Sources confirmed that Khan was directly involved in collecting the stolen equipment, leading to his arrest.
Following the development, the All Kamrup District Students' Union removed Khan from his position as a primary member of the AASU.
Talking to GPlus, ACP Sonapur said, “He has been taken into police remand under the theft case of the mixer. We are investigating the matter further.”
Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover further details surrounding the case.
