'Aahaar' to be staged on World Theatre Day as tribute to Late Arun Sarma

On the occasion of World Theatre Day, March 27th, Arun Sarma Theatre & Remembrance Trust (ASTART) will organise an event at Pragjyoti ITA, Machkhowa, as a tribute to the renowned writer and playwright of Assam, Late Arun Sarma. The event will also mark the 1st death anniversary of Late Sarma.

As a tribute to recognise his rich contribution to the Assamese cultural society, a biography book named 'Xipaar Chinaki' will be launched by Pona Mahanta, renowned educationist of Assam. 

'Aahaar' a play by Kopil Bora & Company will also be staged during the event. The play has been directed by Abinash Sarma.

Arun Sarma was one of Assam's contemporary playwrights and is best known for his unconventional plays. Besides drama, he also authored over six novels detailing the Assamese way of life. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010 in recognition of his contribution to Assamese literature.
