Guwahati: Cachar district in south Assam on Monday, May 2, saw the commissioning of a 25 mega watt (MW) solar power project that will feed into the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) grid.
This is the last of four-phase project with a total output capacity of 90 MW. The other three units of the project are located in Kamrup, Udalguri and Nagaon districts of Assam.
The solar farm will operate under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with APDCL, providing solar electricity to the State grid at Rs 3.34 per kilowatt hour (kWH), the company behind the project, Azure Power, announced on its website on Monday.
This is claimed to be the largest sustainable energy project of its kind in North East India.
