GUWAHATI: The Assam Bridge Association is hosting the prestigious 51st Inter-State Bridge Championship 2023 at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium in Guwahati from November 22 to November 26, 2023. The tournament was inaugurated by Kaushar Jamil Hilaly, the Secretary, Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare.
In his inaugural speech, Hilaly extended a warm welcome to all participants and encouraged them to showcase their skills in the championship. Notably, this tournament holds special significance as it marks the return of the Inter-State Bridge Championship to Assam after a hiatus of 27 years.
The Bridge Federation of India has taken the initiative to organise the championship in the state, attracting players from 23 states across the country. A total of 32 teams are participating in the tournament, showcasing their expertise and competitive spirit.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of prominent figures, including NK Chakraborty, the President of the Assam Bridge Association; CM Kulkarni, Secretary of the Bridge Federation of India; Arundhati Chakraborty, Secretary of I and PR; Pronip Kr. Borthakur, Patron; J M Dey, Secretary of the Assam Bridge Association; Pranab Kr. Goswami, Organising Secretary; and Ranju Bhattacharjee, Chief Tournament Director.
