GUWAHATI: The body of a five-year-old boy was found in the Buridehing River, in Margherita, Tinsukia on October 15.
The boy has been identified as Abhimanyu Chakraborty, a resident of Ward No. 1 in Lazum, who had reportedly gone missing amid the Durga Puja festivities. Following this, his dead body was discovered on Monday.

In response to this incident, more than 500 locals held a candlelight march near the boy’s home on Tuesday.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from the Margherita police station said,” The incident appears to be a case of drowning as no other suspect or evidence pointing otherwise has been found till now. Although investigations are underway.”
The body of the child has been sent for post-mortem. Further details are awaited.
