This statement from the party comes after alleged assault by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Congress workers in Samaguri, Nagaon, thereby furthering political tensions in the state. Also, BJP workers have been alleged to attempt to murder a Congress worker in a related development.

Despite such escalations, the Congress leadership, including Bhupen Bora, President of APCC,  has expressed their determination to move forward with preparations for the election campaign.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Borah has appealed for identification of the perpetrators behind the attack, with police officers also allegedly involved in the physical altercation. The victims of the attack have also been identified, with MLA Sibamoni Borah among them.

Addressing the chief minister, Borah has reportedly warned that the former’s methods of “hooliganism” will be answered in time by the Assamese people through the bye-elections.

Following the incident, key Congress figures have taken active roles in the party's campaign, emphasising the importance of this election for both the party and Assam. Egged on by Tuesday's altercation between the two parties, winning the upcoming bye-elections is seen as a critical moment for the Congress party.
