GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident, three excise officials from Assam died following a major accident along National Highway 39 on Wednesday, September 25.
According to reports, the officials were on their way for an investigation into an illicit liquor trading case when their vehicle collided with a dumper near Morongi Tehsil in Golaghat district.
Two excise officials died on the spot while the other succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Sumu Maibongsa, Ramen Gurung and Harekrishna Kumar.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe into the incident and has asked the Upper Assam Divisional Commissioner Julie Sonowal to initiate the investigation.
