State health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on twitter: “Assam Govt is now in possession of a list of 299 persons who were present in and around the hotspot near Nizamuddin Dargah. We've alerted dist admins to find out if these people have returned to Assam, and strict instructions issued to quarantine them if they are in the state”

Earlier today, the minister had asked all people from Assam who might have recently attended this congregation in Delhi, to immediately voluntarily report themselves to the nearest government hospital or call on the helpline 104.

Till now a total of 24 people who had attended the event have tested positive for coronavirus and one person has died.

It is to be mentioned that Delhi’s Nizamuddin basti area showed a hike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. The Delhi police also cordoned off the area on Monday, March 30, as per reports.

A religious congregation was held there where over 1500 people from across the country and Asia had come to take part. It is believed that some people contracted the virus there.
