29 CCTV Cameras In Guwahati's Prime Locations Non-Functional

GUWAHATI: At the time when Assam Govt is try to curb crimes and illegal activities in and around the city, it was found that around 29 crucial places in Guwahati have been affected with CCTV security vigilance.

According to a report in Assam Tribune, the home department stated that 29 CCTV cameras installed at traffic points in different areas of the city have remained non-functional for the past few days.

The areas are Adabari, Jorabat, Kamakhya Devalaya, Lokhra, Guwahati Railway Station, Beltola, near Raj Bhawan, Bora Service, Kahilipara and near the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

It is to be mentioned that in 2012 under the Modernisation of the State Police Forces Scheme (MPF), the govt then had installed altogether 290 CCTV cameras in 91 locations of Guwahati, however, presently only 261 are currently in working condition.
