GUWAHATI: A 25-year-old youth from Cachar succumbed to COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, September 30, becoming one of the youngest victims of the dreaded virus in Assam. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Sur.
A total of 17 COVID-19 positive patients passed away on Wednesday, taking Assam's death toll to 697.
"My deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and friends. May God bless you with strength to bear the loss. Take care," posted state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter.

Wednesday came to a close with the report of 3,590 new people testing positive for COVID-19 in Assam, taking the total tally to 1,80,811.
Further, 1,616 persons were discharged from various health care facilities across Assam.
