GUWAHATI: The carcasses of two rhino calves have been found from flood-hit Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon district of central Assam.

According to reports, the Forest Protection Force in Pobitora recovered the carcass of a rhino calf from the flood waters near Amaramul Camp inside the sanctuary on Friday, its ranger said.

The cause of the death of both the rhino calves were drowning in the high flood inside the sanctuary, claimed the forest staff.

It may be mentioned here that the entire Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, the densest habitat of one-horned rhinos in the world covering a 46 sq. km area in central Assam was completely submerged by the flood waters of the Brahmaputra.
