GUWAHATI: In a very unfortunate incident that occurred in Panjuri village of Karbi Anglong, two Guwahati youths were beaten to death.
The deceased have been identified as Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath of Guwahati.
Allegedly, the two went to Karbi Anglong to witness the natural beauty and promote tourism when they were thought to be child lifters (xopadhora) by the localites there.
The two were beaten on the streets brutally by the localites.
As per sources, the two became victims of fake social media reports on child-kidnapping/child theft in Karbi Anglong but in reality, one was pursuing his musical career in Goa while the other was engaged in business.
It could be seen in a footage that the youths had cried and gave their identities as Assamese but were constantly beaten to death.
Semson Teron led Karbi Students Association (KSA) said that the killing of two youths on suspicion of being child traffickers is unfortunate.
