GUWAHATI: An 18-month-old toddler from Barpeta district of Assam succumbed to COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, October 6, becoming the youngest victims of the dreaded virus in the state. The deceased has been identified as Amina Parbin.
A total of 18 COVID-19 positive patients passed away on Tuesday, taking Assam's death toll to 778.
Three deaths were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan and two each from Dibrugarh, Chirang, Golaghat and Sivasagar. Nagaon, Jorhat, Cachar, Sonitpur, Dhubri and Bongaigaon districts reported one death each.
"My prayers to God to provide all bereaved families & friends with enough strength to bear the pain," posted state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter.
Tuesday came to a close with the report of 1,184 new people testing positive for COVID-19 in Assam, taking the total tally to 1,88,902.
Further, 1,586 persons were discharged from various health care facilities across Assam.
