GUWAHATI: In talking to the press, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that it would be a defeat for Assamese people if this bill is not passed. 17 constituencies will go into the hands of Bangladeshi Muslims.
He further went on to say that the bill has been a commitment of the BJP and that they are committed to getting it passed.
It should be noted that 7,06,489 new voters will exercise votes in 2019 Lok Sabha polls in Assam. These new voters (18 to 19 years of age) enrolled in the latest photo electoral rolls in the state. The total electors in Assam are 2,17,60,604, of which male voters constitute 1,11,32,782, and female voters are 1,06,27,822, according to Nandan Pratim Sharma Bordoloi, News Editor of News Live.
