GUWAHATI: Based on specific input, Officer-in charge of Howly in Assam with police party seized a total of 168 kg of Ganja on February 18.
According to reports, the confiscated item was seized from a truck bearing R/No. WB 25G- 5825.
Police seized 14 packets of suspected Ganja each containing 12 kg, total 168 kg. Reportedly the truck was going from Agartala to Siluguri.
The police also apprehended one identified as Mahammad Ahmed (22) who hails from Murshidabad in West Bengal. Currently interrogation is going on to find out linkages.
It is to be mentioned that earlier, ganja weighting 606 kg has been seized from an oil tanker which was been carried from Manipur to Bihar via Meghalaya from North Guwahati.
The seizure comes just ahead of Maha Shivratri which is will be celebrated all over the country on 21 February, 2020.
