GUWAHATI: 17 army personnel from Assam have been recognised for their service and dedication, receiving prestigious awards on the occasion of Republic Day 2025.
-Meritorious Service: 14 police personnel from Assam were awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM), acknowledging their exemplary performance in maintaining law and order.
A total of 942 personnel from Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services were honoured with Gallantry and Service Medals for their exemplary service and bravery.

Gallantry Medals: Medal for Gallantry (GM): Total Awarded: 95 (Police Service: 78, Fire Service: 17)
The Gallantry Medals were conferred for rare acts of bravery and conspicuous efforts to save lives, protect property, prevent crime, or apprehend criminals. Of the 95 Gallantry Medals awarded:
-28 were given to personnel serving in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas.
-28 were awarded to personnel from Jammu & Kashmir.
-3 went to individuals serving in North-East regions.
-36 were presented to personnel from other regions for their courageous actions.

-President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM): Total Awarded: 101 (Police Service: 85, Fire Service: 5, Civil Defence & Home Guard Service: 7, Correctional Service: 4)
-Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM): Total Awarded: 746 (Police Service: 634, Fire Service: 37, Civil Defence & Home Guard Service: 39, Correctional Service: 36)
