GUWAHATI: In a recent operation on January 30, the Guwahati Customs Department successfully intercepted and seized 103 gold biscuits, weighing a total of 2.60 kilograms, valued at a staggering ₹1.32 crore. The illicit attempt was thwarted at the India-Bhutan border near Darranga Land Customs Station (LCS) in Assam, as per reports.
Apart from the substantial gold haul, the customs officials also confiscated foreign currency amounting to ₹2.27 lakh, along with ₹1.12 lakh. This multi-pronged seizure underscores the magnitude of the smuggling operation that was being orchestrated.
