GUWAHATI: In a tragic incident, one worker fell from the under-construction Zoo Road flyover today at around 5.25 PM today and was critically injured.

In another similar incident, in September 2022, a 15-foot-long iron beam reportedly fell on a sedan passing by, below the under-construction Zoo Road flyover in September last year.
As a result, the car was damaged. Luckily the passengers escaped unharmed.
There were allegations of workers' negligence at the construction site that led to the accident.
The deadline to complete the construction of the Zoo Road flyover will not be met as the flyover is likely to be completed by Diwali this year.
When the project started the target completion time of the project was set by July 28, 2023, but it is now extended.
PWD sources informed that the work is ongoing and in full swing now and the workers are always asked to follow all the safety norms.
The PWD has already asked for an enquiry to find out what exactly happened to the worker today and how he fell.
