Several members of the Congress party have jointly demanded that Priyanka Chopra should be removed as the Brand Ambassador for Assam Tourism.
Slamming Priyanka Chopra and Assam Tourism, the opposition alleged that the actress appeared in several photographs within the calendar wearing ‘minimal clothes’, which has brought a bad name to the culture of Assam.
However, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has rebutted the Congress’ comment on removing Priyanka Chopra as the Brand Ambassador. The ATDC Chairman has questioned the Congress on whether the authorities should use the photos of Priyanka Gandhi instead of Priyanka Chopra to appease them. According to him, none of Priyanka’s photos in the calendar are revealing.
“The calendar was made to promote Assam internationally. It has also been sent to prominent international tour operators and dignitaries,” said the ATDC chairman exclusively to G Plus. “Priyanka Chopra is an international figure and her presentation in the calendar has not diminished Assam’s culture in any way,” he added.
Prior to this, Priyanka was seen in several photos and hoardings across the country draped in Muga Mekhela Sador which has been widely appreciated.
