GUWAHATI: A wild elephant was found dead in Rajapara Muhipara, within the Bandapara Forest Range, Kamrup rural on December 2.

While the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, initial observations point to possible electrocution.
A herd of elephants was reportedly spotted in the vicinity, heightening concerns among villagers about the safety of wildlife in the area. Local residents have criticised the lack of adequate fencing and safety measures, which they believe may have contributed to the incident. They have called on the Forest Department to launch a thorough inquiry to address the issue.
Forest officials have assured that the definitive cause of death will be determined following a detailed post-mortem examination.
