GUWAHATI: During a political campaign ahead of the ensuing Assam assembly elections, Bodoland People's Front chief Hagrama Mohilary said, “This time we will hold BJP's funeral in the month of May.”

Mohilary was addressing a public gathering in Tezpur on March 2, Tuesday.

BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary and his party has severed all ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined the Mahajuth (comprising the Congress and AIUDF among other parties) ahead of the Assam Assembly Elections 2021.

Showing much confidence in grabbing the majority of the seats in the upcoming elections with his new alliance, Hagrama said that he has always been friends with the Congress party when his then closest friend Himanta Biswa Sarma was a part of the Indian National Congress party.

The BPF leader further said, “Himanta Biswa Sarma influenced me to join BJP, now I am not with him. We will remain with the Mahajuth, which will form the government after elections.”

"This time we will hold BJP's funeral in the month of May," the BPF chief said, adding that his party shook hands with Mahajuth for a greater cause keeping in mind the interest of the people of Assam.

The politician criticised the BJP-led government in the state claiming that Sarbanada Sonowal's government didn't do anything for the people.
