As of now, rectification works are in progress to address the issue. The Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water and Sewerage Board has assured the public that water supply will be restored once the repairs are completed.
The board further expressed regret over the disruption and confirmed that the necessary steps were being taken to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
Guwahati Jal Board took to X, saying “Water supply shall resume post completion of the rectification work. Inconvenience caused is regretted.”
The incident occurred on Thursday, May 1, when a major pipeline leak near the Chandmari food joint led to severe waterlogging. Gushing water flowed downhill, causing an artificial flood that left commuters and residents stranded. The road became temporarily inaccessible due to the volume and force of the leakage.
