The elections have become a tense triangular race between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
A total of 13,766 polling stations have been set up across 2,696 locations to ensure smooth voting.
To encourage maximum voter turnout, a paid holiday has been declared for both government and private sector employees in Delhi. Additionally, neighboring states Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also declared paid holidays due to the elections.
There are 699 candidates in the race, with the AAP and Congress each fielding 70 candidates. The BJP has put forward 68 candidates, sharing two of the seats with its allies—Janata Dal (United) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
Notably, in the high-stakes New Delhi constituency, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is aiming to retain his seat. He faces competition from the sons of former Chief Ministers: Parvesh Sahib Singh from the BJP and Sandeep Dikshit from Congress.
