GUWAHATI: Indian athlete Vispy Kharadi has achieved a remarkable feat by securing a place in the Guinness World Records for the longest Hercules pillar hold. Demonstrating extraordinary strength and endurance, Kharadi held the massive pillars for an impressive 2 minutes and 10.75 seconds during his record-setting attempt in Surat, Gujarat recently.

The pillars, inspired by Greek architecture, stood 123 inches tall with a diameter of 20.5 inches. Weighing 166.7 kg and 168.9 kg, they pushed the limits of human capability. The Guinness World Records officially recognised his accomplishment, adding yet another title to his growing list of achievements.
Kharadi’s record gained widespread attention when tech billionaire Elon Musk reshared a video of his performance. Originally posted by Guinness World Records’ official X (formerly Twitter) account, the clip quickly went viral. Expressing his excitement, Kharadi shared on X, “It was indeed a good surprise when I got to know that @elonmusk shared my Guinness World Record video. Feeling so happy and on cloud 9! It gives me immense pride that an Indian is being recognized globally in the field of strength.”
Kharadi’s X bio highlights his diverse accomplishments, including multiple black belts and an astounding 13 Guinness World Records. A fitness expert and strength athlete, he also trains Border Security Force (BSF) commandos in unarmed combat. Some of his past records include crushing the most drink cans by hand in a minute and bending the most iron bars using his head.
The video of his latest feat has amassed over 10 million views and received more than 74,000 likes. Social media users flooded the comments with praise, with one user calling him a "real-life video game character" and another noting his "insane grip strength and endurance." Many celebrated his success, with messages like "Making India proud!" and "True strength, true inspiration!"
