GUWAHATI: India on Saturday, May 3, suspended all categories of mail and parcel exchanges with Pakistan via both air and surface routes, in a fresh round of punitive measures following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The development was confirmed by Union Minister for Communication Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Scindia stated that the government has decided to halt all inbound mail and parcel traffic from Pakistan with immediate effect, as the move is part of a broader strategy by New Delhi to isolate Islamabad diplomatically and economically in response to cross-border terrorism.
The suspension of mail services comes after India banned the direct or indirect import of goods from Pakistan, and also barred Pakistani ships from entering Indian ports. A new provision in the Foreign Trade Policy has been introduced, prohibiting the import or transit of all goods originating from or exported by Pakistan, until further orders.
India has earlier launched a series of retaliatory measures in response to the Pahalgam incident. These include suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, sealing the Attari-Wagah border — the only functional land crossing between the two countries — and cancelling all visas issued to Pakistani nationals. India has also denied its airspace to Pakistani carriers and downgraded diplomatic ties.
