According to reports, hacker groups such as 'Cyber Group HOAX1337' and 'National Cyber Crew' attempted to deface websites of several Army Public Schools in Jammu. The attackers reportedly tried to post messages mocking victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Another cyber intrusion targeted a healthcare services portal for ex-servicemen, while websites linked to the Army Institute of Hotel Management and Indian Air Force veterans were also attacked.
All these hacking attempts were detected early and neutralised by Indian cyber defence teams, ensuring that no significant damage occurred. Officials noted that several of the affected websites catered to vulnerable groups such as children, retired personnel, and civilians.
Relatedly, the Maharashtra Cyber Department, which tracks online threats, has reported over 10 lakh attempted cyberattacks on Indian digital infrastructure in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Authorities believe that the hacking attempts are part of a broader hybrid warfare strategy employed by Pakistan, combining terrorism and digital disruption to destabilise India. Some cyberattacks were also traced back to other countries including Indonesia, Morocco, and regions in the Middle East, with several groups linked to Islamist ideologies.
Investigations are ongoing at the moment.
