The milestone was achieved on Thursday, April 24, as he scored his 26th fifty at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's home fixture against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

Kohli’s 70 for 42 balls also guided RCB to their first home win of the season. With this innings, he surpassed England’s Alex Hales, who had scored 25 half-centuries at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The performance also reinforced Kohli’s leading status across several T20 batting metrics, including average, fifties, centuries, and total runs, at a single venue.

The updated list of most half-centuries at one T20 venue now features Kohli (26), followed by Hales (25), James Vince (24 at The Rose Bowl), Tamim Iqbal (23 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium), and Jason Roy (21 at The Oval).

In another achievement, Kohli overtook Chris Gayle in total fifty-plus scores in T20s. With 102 fifties and nine centuries, Kohli’s tally now stands at 111, trailing only David Warner, who has 117 such scores in the format.

Kohli acknowledged the fans and the venue after the match, calling the stadium a special place with many fond memories. He credited the support of the crowd for backing the team through different phases of the tournament.

Meanwhile, this was Rajasthan Royals’ seventh defeat in the current season. The team now faces a steeper path to remain in contention, needing more than two points per match in their remaining games to advance in the league.
