GUWAHATI: The Ulubari and Ganeshguri markets in Guwahati are set to undergo infrastructure development.
On Thursday, Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, Ashok Singhal inspected the Ulubari and Ganeshguri Markets.
The visit aimed to evaluate the existing infrastructure of both markets and engage with local traders to understand and address their concerns.
Singhal accompanied by Mayor Mrigan Sarania, GMC Commissioner Megh Nidhi Dahal, and other high-ranking officials conducted a detailed assessment of the two multi-storied market houses situated in both areas.
The GMC recently completed the tender process for the redevelopment of these markets and has assigned the responsibility to a new contractor.
Singhal has directed GMC officials to fast-track the construction and emphasised the need to complete the reconstruction of both market houses within the next year.
