GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a comprehensive three-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya starting January 18.
His itinerary includes events such as the plenary session of the North Eastern Council, the passing out parade of Assam Police commandos, and the inauguration of a cyber security operational centre.
Upon his arrival in Shillong on Thursday, the Home Minister will inaugurate a cyber security operational centre at the Assam Rifles headquarters in the capital of Meghalaya.
The following day, Shah will actively participate in the 71st plenary session of the North Eastern Council at the state convention centre in Shillong. Additionally, he will conduct a review of the functioning of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) at the same venue, as per reports.
On Saturday, the Home Minister's schedule includes attending the 61st Raising Day celebrations of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at the SSB complex in Tezpur. Later in the afternoon, he will be present at the 13th triennial conference of the All Bathou Mahasabha in Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur district. According to reports in the media, In the evening, Shah is set to witness the passing out parade of 2,551 Assam Police commandos at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.
Concluding his visit, the Home Minister will launch the book 'Assam's Braveheart Lachit Barphukan' at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium in the city. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Brahmaputra Riverfront in Guwahati before returning to Delhi, as per reports.
