GUWAHATI: Guwahati police arrested two women on Thursday, 19 December, involved in drug peddling. The arrest took place at approximately 5:30 PM, and was a coordinated operation led by ACP Azara, along with teams from Bharalumukh and Gorchuk police stations.

During the operation, a body search revealed five soap cases containing suspected heroin. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rina Begum (48), a resident of S.K. Bhuyan Road under Latasil Police Station, and Subha Devi (53), a resident of Namghar Path under Basistha Police Station.
Following the arrest, a subsequent search led by the accused Subha Devi at her rented house in Lokhra, Namghar Path, uncovered an additional five soap cases of suspected heroin.
The total net weight of the seized narcotic substances is 122.83 grams, comprising 10 soap cases in total.
The police have initiated legal proceedings in connection with the case, while further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West Guwahati Police District.
