According to reports, Pratap Chandra Sarangi (69), an MP from Odisha, and Mukesh Rajput from Uttar Pradesh were hospitalised after the incident.

Dr Ajay Shukla, Medical Superintendent at RML Hospital, stated that Sarangi suffered a deep cut on his forehead that required stitches and was bleeding profusely upon arrival. His blood pressure and anxiety levels were alarmingly high. Rajput, who lost consciousness shortly after sustaining a head injury, regained his senses by the time he reached the hospital but also displayed elevated blood pressure levels.

Both MPs are under observation in the ICU, with CT scans and cardiac tests underway. "They are being stabilised with medications for pain, blood pressure, and anxiety," Dr Shukla said to the media.

The clash reportedly began when INDIA bloc members attempted to use a route occupied by protesting BJP MPs instead of a designated pathway near the Makar Dwar staircase. BJP accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing Sarangi, a charge Gandhi denied. Gandhi claimed he was being obstructed and threatened by BJP MPs.

Meanwhile, Congress has lodged a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging unruly behaviour by BJP MPs. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge claimed he was pushed, causing him to lose balance and aggravate prior knee injuries.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju called the incident unacceptable, stating, "Parliament is not a place for physical altercations."
