GUWAHATI: A man killed his wife and stepdaughter before taking his own life at Bamunimaidam Railway Colony in Guwahati on Tuesday , February 11 night. The bodies were discovered on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Julie Deka, her husband Lohit Thakuria alias Ratul, and her daughter Ritika Deka, police said.
Neighbours told police that they heard commotion in the house during the night. They informed police that the house was suspiciously not open in the morning. Police later came and opened the door to find the bodies.
The husband had hacked the wife and stepdaughter to death before hanging himself.
A senior police official at the site said Thakuria had come to the house yesterday and they had an altercation. He also said that according to preliminary information the husband had informed a cousin that he had killed his wife and stepdaughter. Thakuria was earlier arrested in a POCSO case. He came out of jail about three months ago.
Julie Deka, originally from Morigaon, was an employee of Indian Railways and lived in a railway quarter in Bamunimaidam. She had been married twice, with her daughter Ritika born from her first marriage.
