GUWAHATI: Train operations were disrupted on Wednesday, December 11 due to a rail blockade at Jorai Railway Station in Alipurduar Division, organised by the Greater Cooch Behar People’s Association (GCPA). The protest began at approximately 6:45 am, and by 8:00 am, more than 5,000 agitators had gathered, blocking all rail lines at the station.

In response, the Northeast Frontier (N.F.) Railway, in collaboration with state authorities, deployed over 500 personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and local police to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents.
The blockade forced the cancellation of several trains and the diversion of others via the Fakiragram – Golakganj – New Cooch Behar route. The railway authorities arranged alternative road transport, including buses and Tata Sumo vehicles to assist affected passengers.
