Traffic Restrictions Imposed In Guwahati For Vice President's Visit

 

GUWAHATI: In anticipation of the visit of the Vice President of India to Guwahati on February 13, a series of traffic restrictions have been set forth to ensure the safety of the public, with a particular focus on vulnerable commuters and facilitating free passage for emergency vehicles.

The following restrictions on the movement of vehicles will be in effect:

-Restriction on Commercial Goods Carrying Vehicles (4 wheels and above): Plying of commercial goods carrying vehicles with four wheels and above will be restricted on several key roads, including NH-17, AT Road, D.G Road, M.G Road, Taibullah Road, B.Borooah Road, G.S Road, Panjabari Road, and NH-27 within Guwahati City.

This restriction will be enforced from 8 AM to 10 PM on February 13.

-Restriction on Commercial Goods Carrying Vehicles (3 wheels and above): Similar restrictions will be imposed on commercial goods carrying vehicles with three wheels and above.

These restrictions will apply to NH17, AT Road, D.G Road, M.G Road, Taibullah Road, B.Borooah Road, G.S Road, and Panjabari Road from 8 AM to 10 PM on February 13.

-Regulation of City Buses/ASTC Buses and Slow-Moving Vehicles: City buses, ASTC buses, slow-moving vehicles, etc., will be regulated based on the real-time traffic scenario in the city. 

These measures are designed to create a secure environment for the public, especially for vulnerable groups like children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons.

Simultaneously, facilitating unimpeded passage for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders is a key priority during the Vice President's visit.
