GUWAHATI: In anticipation of the visit of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, on January 20, 2024, the city administration has announced a series of traffic restrictions and regulations in Guwahati.
The following measures will be implemented:
• Restriction on Commercial Goods Carrying Vehicles: All commercial goods carrying vehicles, including LMV (Light Motor Vehicles), MMV (Medium Motor Vehicles), and HMV (Heavy Motor Vehicles), will face restrictions on GS Road, Panjabari Road, B Borooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, and AT Road from noon till 7 PM on January 20.
• Regulation of ASTC and Inter-District Buses: ASTC buses, inter-district buses, and city buses operating on GS Road, Panjabari Road, B Borooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, and AT Road will be regulated from noon to 7 PM.
• Restriction on Slow-Moving Vehicles: Slow-moving vehicles such as e-rickshaws, thela, and rickshaws will be restricted on GS Road, Panjabari Road, B Borooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, and AT Road from noon to 7 PM.
• NH27 Traffic Restrictions: Commercial goods carrying vehicles (LMV/MMV/HMV) will be restricted on NH27 from noon to 7 PM.
• NH17 Traffic Restrictions: Commercial goods carrying vehicles (LMV/MMV/HMV) will be restricted on NH17 from 4 PM till 8 PM on the specified day.
These restrictions will not apply to school buses, ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, and other emergency vehicles.
