GUWAHATI: Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations of Barak Valley Region, Silchar, Indrani Goswami, has been suspended due to absence from duty on 4th June without obtaining prior permission from competent authority.
On 4th June, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had visited Silchar to take stock of the landslide situations and held important meetings in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar.

However, serious mismanagement took place regarding media persons who covered the programme, and a number of media persons got agitated and left the venue, causing much embarrassment to the government.
Goswami was suspended on 15th June under Rule 6(1)(a) of the Assam Services (Disciplinary & Appeal) Rules, 1964.
