Time to make Guwahati the education hub of South East Asia: Assam CM

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday, July 26th attended the ‘Bag Binimoy’ – an interactive programme where he urged the city’s educational institutes to become the model institutes of learning, and turn Guwahati into the education hub of South East Asia.

The event was organised by Higher Education Department, Govt of Assam, at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra where the CM interacted with the college teachers and principals of Guwahati city.

“The teachers must come forward and fulfil their responsibility as mentors to nurture the young generation as a human resource, by enabling them in various fields. The teachers must live up to their image of being the role models of the students and the upcoming generation must be made aware of our resources and potential thereby making them committed future citizens of the society.

Students need to learn the history and geography of our country and the state without which the future roadmap for Assam’s development cannot be prepared,” said Sonowal.

Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, Minister of State for Education Department Pallab Lochan Das, Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department Ajay Tiwari and teachers of various colleges of the city were present in the programme.
