GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for Guwahati, Assam along with several northeastern states over the coming days of the week, cautioning residents about thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and dense fog

January 7: Thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by hail are very likely to occur at isolated locations in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in isolated parts of Nagaland.
January 8: Arunachal Pradesh will experience isolated instances of thunderstorms and lightning.
January 9 to January 11: Dense fog is likely to occur at isolated places across Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Mizoram over these three days, potentially impacting visibility during early mornings and late evenings.
Light to moderate rain is expected over parts of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal & Nagaland over the first three days. Also, a spell of dry weather will prevail over the parts of Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur & Tripura along with shallow fog in the same area in the rest days.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution, particularly while travelling in areas prone to thunderstorms or dense fog.
