Those not on NRC likely to face trouble

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said that people who's names will not be included in the final list of NRC, are likely to face troubles related to fundamental and constitutional rights. He said that NRC failure people will only be provided food, clothing and shelter, and no other fundamental rights.

"People who will be proven foreigners after the publication of the final NRC list, will be barred from all constitutional, fundamental, and electoral rights. They will only be provided with the basic facilities on humanitarian grounds," Sonowal commented after the part publication of the NRC Draft.

3.29 crore people applied for NRC out of which 1.9 crore names were published on the first draft. 

Nearly 20,000 people have been declared foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunals (FTs) in Assam till October 2017, and were kept in detention centres, said Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

"As per the monthly report of disposal of cases in FTs of Assam, 19,612 'D' voters were declared foreigners till Oct,2017," the Minister of State for Home Affairs said in Lok Sabha.
