GUWAHATI: An incident of theft was reported on Tuesday, September 6 from one of the busiest areas of Guwahati, Fancy Bazar.
The incident took place at Gaurav Metal Store at 11:15 PM in the night and the entire incident was caught on CCTV.
While speaking to G Plus, Arun Kumar Saraogi, the owner of the store said, “We realised that there was a break in at the store in the morning at around 5:30 AM. After checking the CCTV we came to know that the thief entered at 11:15 PM last night, September 5. Soon after we discovered that the store had been broken into, we informed the police, officials from the Panbazar Police Station arrived at the scene first and later they contacted the Fancy Bazar Police Station who later arrived and are now investigating the case.”
The owner further added that cash from their cash box in the store was stolen, the exact amount hasn’t been calculated yet. The CCTV footage showed only one person breaking and entering the store who looked like a man of 30-35 years of age.
The Incharge of Fancy Bazar Police Station, Priyabrat Gogoi told G Plus that an FIR has not been lodged by the store owner and from what the owner told the police, only the cash was taken from the store.
