'The Nest - Incubator for Startups' launched in Guwahati

As part of the Assam Startup Policy, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had formally launched the Assam Startup initiative on January 20, 2019. As part of the launch, Sonowal also inaugurated the first of its kind, state-owned incubator for the startups called 'Assam Startup - The Nest' in Guwahati.

The Nest has been set up to give a boost to the startup ecosystem and support budding entrepreneurs of Assam. Facilities like co-working space, lockers, high speed internet, conference and meeting rooms, shared services desks, etc are available in The Nest for the selected startup incubatees. The Nest will also provide benefits like dedicated mentorship, capacity enhancement trainings, market connect, networking opportunities, branding and visibility, funding connect etc.

The online portal of Assam Startup will be available at "startup.assam.gov.in." The portal consists of four components:

1. MY Assam Startup ID (MASI) is an online process devised for existing startups of Assam to get recognised and avail incentives under the Assam Startup Policy 2017.

2. Incubation for the Startups at the Nest - Any entrepreneur from Assam can apply for incubation at the state owned incubator 'The Nest' through the online portal. Once selected, he/ she along with the team can avail the facilities and the benefits.

3. Support for Incubators - Aspiring/ existing incubator established in a university/ educational institute or a corporate/PSU can apply for setting up of incubation centre through the online portal.

4. Entrepreneurship Ecosystem - This component in the online portal will consist of mentor network, academic network and investor network. The startups from Assam can connect to such enablers to build their network and subsequently scale their business.
