GUWAHATI: Participating in a talk show held here in Guwahati on June 18, Assam education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya announced that the TET qualified teachers need not have to reappear in Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) examinations.
“We have already initiated the process to extend the validity of their certificates and we sent letters to the Central government regarding the matter,” said the Bhattacharya.
Bhattacharya further said that the transfer process of the TET-qualified teachers will once again begin in the state.

It should be mentioned that this comes after hundreds of TET teachers from Kamrup metro and rural districts gathered near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Guwahati on June 18 to protest against the government for not regularising their jobs and the remark made by education minister comparing the TET certificates with drivers’ licence (which requires to be renewed).
The TET teachers also informed that TET teachers from across Assam will gather outside the secretariat on June 29 if the government fails to take any positive step for their welfare.
