A recent incident caught on video and widely circulated on social media allegedly shows suspended Congress Sherman Ali verbally berating a member of his own Personal Security Officer (PSO) team.
In the video, Sherman Ali can be heard using explicit and offensive language while admonishing the official. The suspended MLA directs his abusive remarks towards the personnel, accusing him of neglecting his duties and disregarding direct orders.
According to media reports, Ali lost his temper after the president of the Baghmara Mandal Congress in the Barpeta district requested payment for the services provided by Congress workers during the previous assembly elections.
Jinnah Rezzakul Alam, the president of the Mandal Congress in Baghmara, stated that approximately ₹2 lakh was spent on campaign expenses during the last assembly elections.
Tensions escalated following the inauguration of the panchayat hall at Baghmara Char, located on the southern banks of the Barpeta district, which was conducted by Sherman Ali the day before.
The Mandal Congress president requested the owed amount for the expenses incurred during the elections two years ago.
In response, Sherman Ali allegedly ordered his security personnel to physically harm the leader by firing bullets, with the entire incident captured on camera. As the security personnel did not comply with his order, Ali reportedly unleashed a barrage of abusive language in a fit of anger.
Sherman Ali, known for his controversial nature, sparked outrage among a section of the onlookers at the scene due to his use of indecent language.
Critics condemned his public outburst as distasteful and unnecessary, highlighting his rude behaviour and offensive language as unwarranted.
