GUWAHATI: IAS officer of 2015 batch Sumit Sattawan officially took charge as the District Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan district today.
This appointment comes following the transfer of Pallav Gopal Jha, who has been reassigned as the tax commissioner of the state according to a recent bureaucratic reshuffle.
Prior to this role, Sumit Sattawan was the District Commissioner of Lakhimpur district. He officially took charge during a formal ceremony held in the premises of Kamrup (Metro) District Commissioner's office.
During the event the outgoing district commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha was given a farewell by the officials of the office. Sumit Sattawan was officially welcomed into his new role during the event.
It needs to be mentioned that the chief minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited the Kamrup (Metro) district commissioner’s office and personally inspected the Record Room for Land Related Documents.
Accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah, the new District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, the outgoing DC Pallav Gopal Jha, and other senior officials of the Office of the District Commissioner, Chief Minister chaired a meeting to address the alarming “land grabbing” issue in Guwahati.
