Students to Receive Rs 20,000 Instead of Laptops This Year: HBS

GUWAHATI: State Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference on Sunday, June 7 announced conferring the Anundoram Borooah Award to meritorious students. 

This year students would receive a cash award of Rs 20,000 instead of laptops due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation. 

In the previous years, students would normally receive a certificate along with a personal computer for securing star marks and above in the High School Leaving Certificate Examinations, High Madrassa and FM Examinations conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the State Madrassa Education Board of Assam.

“#AssamEduCare Under Anundoram Barooah Award students with distinction & star marks in HSLC exams are rewarded with a computer every year. This year, instead of laptops, they shall get Rs 20,000 in their bank accounts in DBT mode. They're free to purchase computers of their choice,” tweeted the minister, conveying the same.

He also informed that SEBA will soon release a portal for students to submit their respective bank account details and the amount would be transferred to them in the month of August.
