According to reports, President Yoon’s declaration, citing threats from nuclear-armed North Korea and alleged anti-state forces, drew widespread backlash. Late on Tuesday, the National Assembly convened an emergency session, where 190 of 300 lawmakers—18 from Yoon’s own party—voted to defy and nullify the martial law order.

A coalition of opposition parties has pledged to submit an impeachment bill to the National Assembly within 72 hours. The Democratic Party, the largest opposition group, strongly condemned Yoon’s actions, accusing him of "trampling on democracy" and undermining the constitution. "President Yoon should immediately resign voluntarily," the party stated.
