Khalistani Protesters Disrupt S. Jaishankar’s London Visit, Tear Indian Flag

GUWAHATI: A security breach occurred in London during the visit of India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, when Khalistani extremists attempted to disrupt his proceedings. The incident took place as Jaishankar was departing from the Chatham House venue. In a video circulating online, a protester approached his convoy, tore the Indian national flag in front of police officers, while others chanted pro-Khalistani slogans, causing a public disturbance.

The protest raised concerns over the initial hesitation of police officers to intervene, with their delayed response drawing public criticism. However, after several moments, authorities removed the extremists from the area. The protest was part of a broader demonstration, with additional footage showing Khalistani supporters outside Chatham House waving flags and continuing their chants.

S. Jaishankar's visit, scheduled from March 4 to 9, included discussions at Chevening House with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. The talks were centered around strengthening bilateral ties between India and the UK in areas such as trade, education, technology, and political cooperation.

Following his engagements in the UK, Dr. Jaishankar will proceed to Ireland from March 6 to 7. During his visit, he is set to meet with Irish Foreign Minister Simon Harris, hold discussions with other senior officials, and engage with the vibrant Indian diaspora community in the country.
