GUWAHATI: Solo rider Anish Baheti who is on a mission to inspire others to travel and lead a healthy lifestyle reached Guwahati riding his motorbike – an Avenger.
Baheti is a charted accountant and logo therapist by profession and has travelled to 27 countries so far.
He completed a 10,000 km bike ride in south India covering 8 states in 50 days.
“The whole idea of my solo riding was to understand different cultures and to go out of my comfort zone and experience different cultures, food, meet new people and understand their problems,” Baheti said.
He recently travelled to 9 countries in 29 days starting from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
He started his current trip on February 2 from Gujarat and went to Rajasthan. Entering Agra, Lucknow and he came down to Sonali border to cross Nepal. From Kathmandu he headed to Sikkim via Siliguri and then came down to Bhutan and made a stop in Guwahati before going ahead.
He also visited the Kamakhya Temple. Speaking about his visit he said, “It took me about 8 minutes to teach the top of the temple. Some say that you haven’t visited Guwahati without stepping inside the famous Kamakhya temple. After waiting in the general queue for two and a half hours I had the chance to visit the sanctum and feel blessed. My experience was uniquely spiritual but I don't support the sacrifices of animals though.”
Speaking about his ride ahead he said, “As I have visited one brother now my next destination is the see the seven sisters. I want to see Tawang. I will begin the journey with Assam visiting Kaziranga National Park and then will head to Arunachal Pradesh. After covering the seven sisters I will later head to Myanmar and then Thailand. After Thailand I will enter East India via Bangladesh, covering Bihar and Madhya Pradesh I will head back to Gujarat.”
He said he wants to inspire people to come out and travel, but travel safely. “I want to promote healthy lifestyle. I am a diabetic but I would say that it should not stop you from doing what you love to do,” he added.
Speaking about his visit to Sikkim he said it was like heaven. Adding he said, “I have only experienced Sikkim in Northeast, I am yet to experience the rest of the states but I am very excited.”
Speaking about the tourism he said, “The promotion of tourism is not quite evident in Northeast and the rest of India. I think a lot more is to be done is in order to attract more people. There are yet many places which are not recognised by all expect for a few locals.”
He said that people who want to experience nature, greenery, mountains and be in the presence of nature would love northeast.
